To lead and coordinate the global initiative to address and prevent criminalization, violence, and impunity against indigenous peoples towards strengthening their collectives, solidarity, and actions.
In 2025, ipri continued to establish itself with increased visibility as the indigenous-led global organization focusing on criminalization and human rights violation of indigenous peoples. We have contributed significantly to the (1) unification of position and strategies of indigenous peoples (ip) in relation to the green transition through the ip declaration on the just transition during the international conference on just transition and indigenous peoples conference co-organized and led by ipri in april 2024. (2) adoption of a resolution on biodiversity and human rights by the human rights council which ipri has initiated through our engagement with the government of colombia and the (3) stronger recognition of indigenous peoples' rights (undrip) within the interpretation of binding human rights treaties by un treaty bodies (tbs) through written comments to the committee on the elimination of racial discrimination (cerd) and the committee on economic, social, and cultural rights (cescr).with our various engagements, ipri is being acknowledged as an important actor at the global level by indigenous peoples organizations and networks, un bodies, human rights organizations and other organizations through our active collaboration and cooperation with them.at the national level, ipri's work in the six focus countries--through partnerships with indigenous organizations in mexico, brazil, colombia, philippines, india, drc and project implementation in indonesia, tanzania and nepal--are achieving increasing visibility and actions in addressing criminalization and violation of indigenous peoples' rights with impunity. Our work at the national level has different levels of progress, and some serious challenges need to be addressed in relation to the strategic positioning of partners to focus in addressing the worsening human rights condition of indigenous peoples.
