What it does
Our mission is to end addiction in Appalachia through events that support substance abuse prevention and recovery programs.
Healing Appalachia is a flagship initiative of Hope in the Hills and one of the nations largest recovery-focused music festivals, bringing together tens of thousands of people each year to celebrate recovery, reduce stigma, and support real solutions to the addiction and mental health crisis. Set in the heart of Appalachia, the festival harnesses the power of music to create connection, inspire hope, and elevate the voices of those impacted by substance use disorder. More than a music event, Healing Appalachia is a platform for impact. Through its on-site Resource Village, national partnerships, and initiatives like large-scale naloxone distribution, the festival connects individuals and families to life-saving resources and recovery support services. Proceeds from the festival are reinvested by Hope in the Hills into long-term recovery programs, workforce development, music therapy, and recovery housing scholarships across the region. Healing Appalachia is where music meets missiontransforming awareness into action and building a stronger, more connected recovery community.
Recovery Housing Scholarship Program - Hope in the Hills Recovery Housing Scholarship Program expands access to safe, stable, and supportive living environments for individuals committed to long-term recovery. By removing financial barriers, the program provides scholarships that help cover the cost of quality recovery housing, allowing individuals to focus on rebuilding their lives without the immediate pressure of housing instability. Rooted in evidence-based recovery principles, the program prioritizes placements in structured, peer-supported environments that promote accountability, connection, and personal growth.
ReStage Appalachia - ReStage Appalachia is a recovery-to-workforce initiative led by Hope in the Hills that creates real pathways to employment for individuals rebuilding their lives. Through hands-on training in live event production and technical trades, participants gain industry-recognized skills, certifications, and direct connections to employment opportunities. The program is rooted in the belief that recovery is strengthened through purpose, structure, and community
