What it does

Future focused education's mission is to co-create systems of equity to sustain healthier and more prosperous communities for those who need it the most. We envision schools as sites of innovation and opportunity, where young people become the creators of healthy and prosperous communities.

Future focused education (ffe)continues to build on the infrastructure created in the prior years. The organization maintains the paid intership program, providing in-person and virtual internships for young people living in communities across the state, with distinct hubs in albuquerque and santa fe (as a hub for northern new mexico). The internship program has increased support for youth transitioning from high school into college and career by differentiating support for this specific population in addition to high school students. This is facilitated via partnerships with districts, schools, employers, and community-based organizations. Ffe increased the scale of the annual statewide conference called eduprising and continues to partner with nm ped on an ongoing assessment- focused professional development community of practice for educators across the state. Ffe has been an active collaborator with legislative, ped, and executive staff over the past five years and helped inform the innovation zone and graduation requirements legislation. Ffe is seen as knowledgeable and effective experts in both areas and has been contracted by ped to support implementation of the innovation zone grants across the state. Ffe has a wide reach of influence throughout "public will building" activities that include high functioning communications planning and implementation as well as conducting site visits to innovative schools and districts throughout the state to gather community input that informs the policy making strategies of the organization. Ffe has also provided contracted services that support schools in carrying out our mission of providing the best education to students who need it the most. In the past several year ffe has become a grantor to other nonprofit organizations in connection with school programming for community and civic infrastructure projects. Ffe convenes local community members, school leaders and youth to select an important civic issue to focus on du
